About the Tour
The west coast is known for its beautiful sunsets, which adorn the late afternoon sky with its warm colors of all shades of yellows, oranges, and reds. Experiencing the kayak trip in the late afternoon on the Tamarin River is exceptional.
As the sun approaches the horizon, we row toward the heart of the river, towards the North.
Everything calms down, and this silence is only interrupted by the last songs of birds.
With a cold drink in hand, we marvel at the thousands of colorful reflections. Then the show can begin with the golden sunset and the genesis of a sweet tropical night.

What you’ll do

Welcome & briefing (10 min)
Meet your guide at Tamarin Bay for a quick safety briefing and introduction to your kayak. -
Paddle upstream (30 min)
Glide into the calm waters of the river, leaving the ocean behind. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and observe the evening wildlife along the riverbanks. -
Sunset on the river (30 min)
Pause mid-river with a refreshing drink in hand as the sky turns golden and fiery. Admire the stunning reflections on the water and the silhouettes of surrounding mountains. -
Return downstream (20 min)
Paddle back at a relaxed pace, soaking in the last colors of the sunset as the tropical night begins.

Meeting Point
The meeting point is at the Veranda Tamarin boat house. Your guide will be wearing a green t-shirt with “Yanature” written on it.
Know before you go
- No prior kayaking experience is required – your guide will give you a full briefing before we start.
- The activity is suitable for most fitness levels, but you should be comfortable on the water.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult.
- Life jackets are provided and must be worn during the tour.
- Wildlife sightings are common but can’t be guaranteed.
- The tour may be rescheduled or adapted in case of strong wind, heavy rain, or unsafe river conditions.

Gilles is an excellent guide. He shared interesting insights about the flora, fauna, and surroundings, and at the same time made sure we felt safe and comfortable, especially in the more challenging sections. Unforgettable hike!
Decided very last minute to go on a 4am sunrise hike of Le Morne to catch sunrise at the top and Yanature were very accommodating and fast to respond and to find my fabulous guide Henri to take me. It was an incredible experience and one of the best memories of my trip to Mauritius. I highly recommend going for sunrise as we had the entire mountain to ourselves and only started to encounter groups on the descent. Henri was an amazing guide, chatty knowledgeable and calm which was a great support towards the top when you’re scrambling. A wonderful experience and a fantastic guide.

Highly Recommend the Sunrise Hike
Challenging but completely safe — I absolutely loved this hike.
Our guide, Paj, was fantastic. He was incredibly helpful, carefully pointing out the best way to navigate the trickier sections and making sure everyone felt confident
I highly recommend booking the sunrise hike. We had a super small group and didn’t see anyone else on the trail — we even had the summit entirely to ourselves. The views were breathtaking, and the sunrise colours were unforgettable.
