Who Are We?
At Yanature, we’ve had the pleasure of guiding visitors from all over the world the past 20 years. Our passion for the outdoors and commitment to providing the highest standard of services have really been the heart of our success.
TIMELINE
2004 —Early Days. Guiding in Mauritius takes off under Yan de Maroussem, whose early island tours, most notably the pioneering hike on Le Morne Brabant, lay the groundwork for what follows.
2014 — Henri Fayolle meets Yan and brings in a vision of structure and scale. They partner up, and he works towards elevating service standards, structuring the operations, and developing the brand by creating their online store, social networks, Google and OTA’s listings. www.trekkingmauritius.com is created.
2015 — Nicolas Queland joins the adventure and brings operational drive and on-the-ground rigor, strengthening delivery and guide culture. The team comes together.
2015 — YANATURE is incorporated by the three founders: Yan, Henri and Nicolas.

At Yanature, our “why” is simple: it’s our deep love for the outdoors. We are passionately drawn to nature and cherish every moment we spend amidst its beauty. To us, there is no greater joy than feeling connected with our environment and understanding its immense value.
We’re equally passionate about sharing this respect for nature and our unique knowledge about Mauritius with others. Whether it’s visitors seeking a unique outdoor experience in our beautiful country, or younger generations who we hope will carry forward this love for the environment, we feel a responsibility to pass on what we’ve learned.
Ultimately, we do what we do because nature is what we treasure most in life – and we believe the best way to protect it is by helping others appreciate its worth too.
Our Engagement
Safety
Ensuring your safety is our top concern. That’s why we run a twice yearly training scheme to equip our guides with skills for all scenarios. Our guides are rigorously trained and tested in mountain risk assessment. Plus, we have an annual training that covers rescue drills and emergency procedures.
History & Biology
We deeply appreciate our country’s ecology, always mindful to respect nature and leave only footprints. Living in a land rich in unique endemic species is a privilege we cherish. It’s critical to us to prevent their loss, and that’s why we support the local NGO, “The Mauritian Wildlife Foundation”.
