The Trail de la Liberté

The Trail of Liberty, a race in nature in the southwest of Mauritius, on a place steeped in history and a symbol of freedom for all Mauritians. Le Morne Brabant. This mountain, dear to our hearts and which witnessed every line of our company’s history, was the refuge of the brown slaves, who, in order to escape their masters, would have taken refuge at the top of it. History tells us that when slavery was abolished in 1835, British army officers went on an expedition to the top of the mountain to tell them of their freedom, but the latter, seeing them approaching and unaware of such news, chose to jump from the top of the mountain, looking out on the horizon towards Madagascar and Africa, their native land and that of their forebears. They committed a collective suicide, praying that their souls would return to where they came from.

To celebrate the abolition of the slave trade, peace and equality in Mauritius, Yanature, in partnership with Rando-Trail and Nature and Nou Le Morne Festival, is offering you a race in nature on an exclusive route through various private estates, which will allow you to discover the Morne Peninsula, its mountains and its surroundings from new angles.
